Jean-Frederic Colombel, MD, is a world-reknowned gastroenterologist, having authored over 500 peer-reviewed papers and 30 book chapters in the IBD field. Dr. Colombel has been invited to speak at numerous international conferences and spearheads new developments in IBD as a primary investigator in international clincal trials, as an editor of several gastroenterology journals, and through his role as Director of the Helmsley IBD Center at Mount Sinai Hospital.
The Centre for Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) at Mount Sinai Hospital is specialized in delivering patient care, education and research for patients with GI disorders, and, in particular, Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. The Centre is host to Canada’s largest team of IBD clinicians, a group of experts who deliver in-patient surgical procedures, outpatient clinics, seminars, and cutting-edge research.
The International Organization for the Study of Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IOIBD) is focused on devoted to studying chronic gastrointestinal tract diseases. The mission of the IOIBD is to promote the health of IBD patients across the world, developing clearer definitions of IBD manifestations, treatment endpoints and targets. The IOIBD’s task forces promote scientific developments by designing non-commercial clinical studies. They also provide grants for start-ups, researchers, and trials which are not otherwise funded due to political or economic disinterest.
